XtoSCORM vs mbz2scorm: which one fits the job

They do different jobs. XtoSCORM turns a single file — a PDF, a PowerPoint or a video — into a SCORM package. mbz2scorm turns a whole Moodle course, from its .mbz backup, into one.

XtoSCORM has a Moodle block, which is why the two get compared. The block sends the file you choose to XtoSCORM’s service. It does not read a course or a course backup: its pages, quizzes and structure stay where they are.

When XtoSCORM is the better choice

When mbz2scorm is the better choice

Using both

They do not overlap much, so some teams will want both: mbz2scorm for the Moodle courses, XtoSCORM for the slide decks and videos that never lived in a course. A PDF or video already inside a Moodle course comes across with the course, bundled into its package, so it does not need converting separately.
